Astrid Atle

I am from Stockholm, Sweden and currently finalizing my studies in Industrial Engineering and Management at Lund University.

I’m specializing in mathematical statistics, in particular within agentic AI systems for forecasting. I previously worked at McKinsey, SEB, Accenture, and Stegra.

Things I’m working on and interested in:

  • Agentic AI for forecasting. Statistical forecasts are blind to the events that actually shape the future. My master’s thesis at the Department of Mathematical Statistics, Lund University, opens a new research area: can LLM systems reason over natural language event context to improve time series forecasts? The full pipeline reduces symmetric MAPE by 66% on a logistics forecasting case versus the same statistical pipeline without event reasoning. Written with David Perntoft in collaboration with Predli. popular science summary and full thesis (preprint).
  • Claimy. A consumer AI agent that automates product complaints under Swedish consumer protection law and handles all communication with retailers. Consumers in Sweden alone lose around $4 billion a year to defective products they never get refunded for. Built initially for me, my friends, and my family. In active development.
  • Puppydays. A Next.js web project on early puppyhood, launched spring 2026. puppydays.se.

Experience

  • McKinsey & Company, business analyst intern (autumn 2025). Contributing to an M&A strategy engagement for a large industrial client and a transformation programme for an energy company.
  • Predli, master’s thesis collaborator (autumn 2025 to spring 2026). Jointly developed an agentic LLM forecasting system that delegates numerical computation to validated statistical models while using the LLM for natural language event reasoning.
  • SEB (Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken), summer intern, Financial Strategy, Corporate & Investment Banking (summer 2025). Worked on financial strategy analysis for the bank’s institutional clients.
  • Accenture, management consulting intern, Strategy & Consulting (spring 2025). Worked on a manufacturing process automation programme for an industrial client, contributing across strategic roadmap and operational analysis.
  • Stegra (formerly H2 Green Steel), intern, Global Growth & Hydrogen Business (spring 2024). Conducted a North American market entry study for one of Europe’s largest deep tech scaleups, building zero emission steel at industrial scale.

Other experience

  • Exchange student at Lycée Blaise Pascal, Segré, France (2017 to 2018). Moved alone at 16 to a French upper secondary school with only basic French from elementary school. Was following classes within two months and now operate at C1 (Effective Operational Proficiency).
  • Exchange student at University of British Columbia, Vancouver, during my M.Sc. (spring 2025).
  • Cofounder and CEO of a Junior Achievement company (UF), Stockholm (2020). Built a venture that helped newly arrived refugees integrate into Swedish schools. Awarded by the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce for outstanding social and economic sustainability.
  • SweSAT (Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test): 1.9/2.0 on the quantitative section, top 0.9% nationally.
